Newsflash

Our latest study: After undergoing chemotherapy, how do you describe your oncologist, took 11 months to attract 50 responses! If we were to wait for 1,000 responses, it may take 20 years? This is in spite of this website having about 3,000 to 5,000 visitors per month.
One thing we can learn from this exercise: it takes a lot of time to learn even a little something! That is why people say: Science moves from grave to grave or from funeral to funeral.
The summary of results is: 60% of the respondents have positive comments about their oncologists after chemotherapy. Oncologists take time to answer questions with care; they are very caring and compassionate and provide all the information needed when asked.
However, 40% of the respondents are not that lucky. They say their oncologists do not provide them with the necessary information for them to make their own decisions; they are too busy and would not answer their questions satisfactorily; some instill fear in patients so as to obtain compliance; some are business-like and are only interested in their money; and some even provide wrong information.
Lesson we can learn from this study: Like everything in life, there are both good and bad apples. So shop around and go for the one whom you are comfortable with.
The next study is open to all readers (cancer or non-cancer) We invite your participation (see column on your right).

Doctors say: I can eat anything I like. Food has nothing to do with cancer.

Research Highlights

Ho, ho, ho --- give it a good clap. I love my doctors. They say I can eat anything I like. My cancer couldn't care less what I eat.

Good news to the patients but bad news to their families because soon these people may end up all dead!

According to the latest research done by Jeffrey Meyerhardt, M.D., MPH.(of Dana-Faber Cancer Institute - a principal teaching affiilate of the Harvard Medical School), as reported in Journal of the American Medical Association, 15 August 2007; patients with the highest intake of a Western-pattern diet, characterized by high intakes of red meat, sugar desserts, high fat and refined grains have a 3-fold increase in recurrence and mortality. The research was carried out with 1009 patients who had stage III colon cancer treated with surgery and adjuvant chemotherapy.
